Today is our family movie day, and as I sit here I can’t help but want to take a minute to write about my little Georgia Turnipseed. By now, anyone reading this, knows who she is. As Sled Pups youngest team member, Georgia is already showing the world her love of fitness, healthy living, and cooking. However, her hard work, kind spirit, and love of life can’t be seen through just a photo.
Of course, like any child, Georgia occasionally forgets to do her homework or take out the trash. Unlike most other children though, Georgia gets up each day between 5:00 and 5:30 am. Often on her own, and after I’ve left for work. Then she has breakfast, and depending on the day, she may get in a light workout. She then does the dishes, gets ready for school, and gets her two younger siblings up for school.
Three days a week, Georgia goes from school to gymnastics practice for 3 hrs. She’s also goes to the gym one extra day each week; to help coach the young kids while her siblings are in practice. She works out anywhere between 3-5 days a week at home, and also takes Olympic Weightlifting courses every Saturday morning (when she is not competing).
For any normal person, you think that would be enough to keep you busy and enough goals to focus on. Not for Georgia though, just the other day she asked about swimming lessons so that she could start doing triathlons. You also might think that mom would cut her some slack, considering how busy she is, but that isn’t the case either. Training is expensive, and in this family we believe you get what you work for. So every night after practice, Georgia helps with getting her siblings ready for school the next day, while mom does the dishes and picks up. Then 2 nights a week she makes dinner and Saturday afternoons she usually has a full day of chores to make up for the things she can’t do when she is gone.
After all her practices, training, school and chores are over she then spends time playing video games with her siblings, running around with them outside, and asking to take them kayaking or fishing.
She truly is an amazing little girl, and has no idea just how much I appreciate her. I love watching her grew up and can’t wait to see what she will one day be.
